Join us for a presentation of “Poetry as an Unexpected Mode of Peacemaking in Tanzania” by Dr. Kelly Askew, ethnomusicologist and anthropologist University of Michigan. Tanzania has been the site of numerous region conflicts, involving Mozambique, Uganda, Zimbabwe, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and South Africa among others. Kelly Askew's talk examines the use and efficacy of poetry as a mechanism to open dialogues and promote healing between former combatants.
