Franco-German Reconciliation

A lecture by Joseph Jupille, Ph.D.
University of Colorado, Boulder

The European Union (EU) began as a peace project to reconcile France and Germany, and no modern reconciliation project has more admirably served its purpose, with Franco-German armed conflict virtually unthinkable.

Professor Jupille will explain how European integration has helped to reconcile not only France and Germany, but also European nations to each other more broadly, the EU's future, and its possible use as a model to other seemingly-intractably violent regions  of the world.
